Chapter 2 - What the Bleep is Harmony United Technology?

This is the thing that everybody is trying to figure out. Well, don't hold your breath; it took me nearly six years to get my head around it.

What do you do when you come across something you've never seen before? You try to sort it into an existing pigeon hole in your mind right? You describe it as like this and similar to that and etc.. The much quoted example of how does a hill man from Papua New Guinea describe a television the first time he sees one: "It's a box with a hard hole at the front and in this hole are small people dressed in strange ways and making funny noises with their mouths and etc.". You get the drift? You explain things by noting their similarity to something already known and then you pass this description on to others and, pretty soon, everyone knows what a television is.

Now, what do you do when you come across something which has no resemblance whatsoever to anything which has ever existed upon this Earth? How are you going to describe it? It does things which have never been done before. How are you going to explain them? Almost anything you can say is misleading because the thing that you are trying to describe is NOT similar to anything else at all!

Now do you begin to grasp our problem?

It's one of those paradigm shifts that happen every millennium or two. You've got to start from the ground up and re-define the whole World with a new set of assumptions which includes the apparent paradox of the existence of this completely new thing. This has happened before:

Learning how to make fire.
Agriculture.
Money.
Printing.
Aeroplanes.
Harmony Evolutions.

Each of these has caused a massive shift in mankind's perception of the World and his/her assumptions about what the World is and how it works.

Until the Harmony United Technology came along, quantum physics was the reserve of a few academics and did not impinge upon everyday life in any meaningful way. The Harmony United Technology has changed that forever. The technology demonstrates absolutely that there is no such thing as separation, no such thing as time, no such thing as distance and that "objective reality" is no fixed thing but a matter of personal choice. All the current basic assumptions about what the World is come tumbling down.

And withal, it doesn't actually do anything. How's that for a paradigm shift?
